“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.” Colossians 3:1
Our lives are directly affected by what we choose to focus on, think about, ponder, and ruminate and meditate on. Focusing on our situation and circumstances can lead to fretful worrying and dismay. But lifting our eyes to Heaven, remembering who is on the Throne and in complete control, brings an overwhelming peace and joy to our hearts, minds, and lives. Discouragement is replaced with courage, enabling us to press on and persevere. Despair is dismantled by an assured hope that defies all understanding. Jesus has overcome the world, and in Him, we are over-comers too! Scripture encourages us to redirect our focus off the lies of fear and anxiety, and onto the truth that Jesus is raised and seated in glory. Let’s look to Him today, knowing that He sees, hears, and cares, and acts mightily on our behalf. You and I have been raised with Christ! Let’s truly live like it!
What areas of life are consuming your thoughts currently? What do you need to stop worrying and fretting over? What do you need to hand over to God and trust Him to take care of?
Pause and pray right now. Lift your eyes to Heaven, fix your heart and mind on things above, remembering that Jesus is your provider, defender, counselor, advocate; He is your strength, hope, peace, and confidence amid troubles, chaos, and uncertainty. He alone is the anchor for your soul. Setting our gaze on Jesus reminds us of the victory that we have in Him and helps us to walk in the reality of it!
